Almost completely barren…

Interestingly, even though I have done essentially none of the things that I do on most of my other blogs to attract traffic, I’m already getting between 10 and 15 visitors/day.

No doubt most of those are script kiddies or malware ‘bots, but still, it’s more than I expected at this point. A lot of the hits are on my resume page, and surprisingly, most of the searches are on my domain name. Second in the list of searches is the following fairly complex line:

(intitle:resume OR inurl:resume) (SW Developer OR asp.net OR vb.net OR c#) -job -jobs -sample -samples -template

…entered on the Yahoo search engine, of all places. Just for grins, I pasted that search into Yahoo.com, and I was definitely not in the top 100 listings, so I’m guessing somebody spend a lot of time looking through resumes before getting to mine.

The top referrer to this site is whois.domaintools.com, which is the main reason I suspect that most of the hits are from spambots and script kiddies. However once I start optimizing and advertising the site, I hope that will change. For now, I’m still setting up the site. Just today, I put in some security measures against script kiddies which I will discuss (in very general terms) in a later post.
